It’s taken a little bit longer than anticipated, but the Specimen is now complete and hopefully worth the wait. The 8 minute film will premiere online at 10AM PST February 21st, 2012 right here as well as on Vimeo, Facebook, and Twitter so please mark your calendars.
So how did we produce this specimen of fake specimen for “The Specimen”? Wouldn’t you like to know. My friend and behind the scenes producer Tony Teofilo breaks it down in this revealing interview with make-up artist Branwyne Smith.
We’ve finally hit our “Picture Lock” milestone. That means I’m done editing the film and ready to finish it off with sound, music, color correction, and titles.

The reality is, that pickup shots and re-shoots are a fairly common and routine aspect of film-making. Film-making can be very stressful and no matter how well you prepare, no one can think of everything.
This is when the puzzle making fun begins, as you assemble the film for the first time seeing how it transformed from what I wrote on the page, through it’s interpretation by the actors to actual footage.
After and exhausting and exhilarating weekend, The Specimen is in the can. (Or should I say cup?).
