The Specimen has been nominated for two awards at next weeks Action on Film (AOF) festival, Best Editing (Short) and Best Comedy Scene.
It’s taken a little bit longer than anticipated, but the Specimen is now complete and hopefully worth the wait. The 8 minute film will premiere online at 10AM PST February 21st, 2012 right here as well as on Vimeo, Facebook, and Twitter so please mark your calendars.
After several sessions with the excellent and patient Peter Tinari, the music, sound design, and audio mix for The Specimen is complete!
So how did we produce this specimen of fake specimen for “The Specimen”? Wouldn’t you like to know. My friend and behind the scenes producer Tony Teofilo breaks it down in this revealing interview with make-up artist Branwyne Smith.
When cutting the pickup shots of Brian Pope without makeup in next to the takes from the initial shoot of him with makeup there’s a stark contrast which we explain how we fixed in post.
We’ve finally hit our “Picture Lock” milestone. That means I’m done editing the film and ready to finish it off with sound, music, color correction, and titles.
I know the updates have not been very frequent lately, and I apologize. That doesn’t mean that nothing has been happening. I’ve been working very hard to work out all of the editing quirks and kinks in the story.
